Kenya Airways Plans to Lease Aircraft from Argentina

Kenya Airways is planning to lease two aircrafts from Argentina.

This was revealed by the Group CEO and MD Allan Kilavuka following a meeting with Argentine Ambassador to Kenya H.E Luis Levit.

The meeting took place on Monday September, 29 and was also attended by First Secretary Mr Demian Dobry.

According to Kilavuka, the discussions explored areas of cooperation for mutual benefit, including the planned delivery of two B737-800 aircraft, leased from a lessor and currently operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas.

The aircrafts are scheduled for delivery and use in Q2 and Q3 of 2026.

Apart from aircraft leasing, there were discussions on initiating a bilateral air services agreement between Kenya and Argentina, alongside opportunities for codeshare and exchange of operational expertise.

Kilavuka in an oped in a Kenyan daily had insisted that airlines were not just about profit -making alone but were instruments for international relations and colaborations too, in a response to public sentiment on Kenya Airways loss making spree.
