Nairobi matatu routes can be confusing. If you are looking for where to board matatu from CBD to Westlands, there are many options depending on where you want to alight.
If you want to alight anywhere along Waiyaki Way, then the best option is to board matatus plying that road whose final destination is either Kangemi, Regen or Kikuyu. So if you are destined to places like Villa Rosa Kempinsky, Chiromo / Riverside, Westlands Stage, Nairobi School, Deloitte Kenya, KALRO, ABC Place, or Safaricom HQ, then board matatu saccos such as Super Metro, ENABLED, Latema Sacco and others along Tom Mboya Street, just next to Kenya National Archives and Standard Chartered Bank.
These matatus will take you to any stage along Chiromo Rd and Waiyaki Way, but you should always alert the conductor early if you do not know the exact stage. Otherwise, you will find yourself in Kangemi or Kikuyu town.
If you are going from CBD to Westlands to places along Ojijo Road and Lower Kabete Rd or Parklands then board matatus at the Old Nation / Roast House roundabout Stage. Such places include the JCC, the Alchemist, Westlands Market, General Mathenge Drive, etc. The final destinations of these matatus is Lower Kabete or Westlands (for small nissans).
This stage is also at the end of Tom Mboya Street, just next to Nairobi Fire Station on your way to Globe Roundabout, just where River Road begins. Also specify where you want to alight and the conductors will be helpful.
