BasiGo has on March 13, 2026 announced the appointment of Doreen Orishaba to the position of Chief Product Officer at BasiGo!
Doreen joined the company in January 2022 and was the lead for the product launch of BasiGo’s pioneering electric buses in Kenya.
She went on to serve as the first Managing Director of BasiGo Rwanda, launching the company’s product in its first new market.
“Under Doreen’s leadership, BasiGo introduced the very first electric buses into passenger operations in Rwanda in December 2023. Since then, BasiGo Rwanda has expanded to a fleet of 34 buses serving both city routes and inter-city routes all over the country,” said the company.
According to the company, the promotion makes Doreen Orishaba is the first female C-Level Executive for an Electric Bus company in Africa.
Over the past 10 years, Doreen has proven to be one of the preeminent leaders in Africa’s EV Industry. As Chief Product Officer, Doreen will now lead Engineering, Product and Technology Development, as well as New Market Development. She will guide BasiGo’s expanding vision for electric vehicles and energy storage technology across Africa.

Meanwhile, the company announced the promotion of Jones Kizihira to the position of Managing Director for BasiGo Rwanda on March 23.
Until his promotion, Mr Kizihira was Head of Vehicle Asset Financing since joining the company in February, 2025.
