Skiza Tunes is provided by third parties through Safaricom platform.
Sometimes, these third parties register people involuntarily, and you may never know if you are not keen. There is a time I had over 20 tunes registered daily on one of my lines.
The usual response from Safaricom when I complained was always, “you might have clicked on a link and registered without knowing.”
Needless to say, that was insult to my intelligence. But I think so many people complained till Safaricom had to find a way to curb the menace from unscrupulous VAS providers.
Just follow these steps to unsubscribe from Skiza tunes:
1. Dial *100#
2. Reply with Option 5: My Subscriptions
3. Reply with Option 1: Active Subscriptions (This will show you a list of all the Skiza tunes subscriptions on your line. If there is no subscription, it will tell you so.)
4. In case there is one or more subscriptions, the list will be numbered. Select the number of the subscription you want to stop. For example, if Subscription 2. National Anthem, just reply 2 then send.
5. Confirm that you want to Unsubscribe from 2. Once you confirm, this will stop the Skiza tune subscription for that particular song.
6. If there are more than one subscriptions, you will have to unsubscribe from each one at a time. So always confirm the new number for the remaining subscriptions.
Can You Block Skiza Tunes?
Yes, you can block Skiza tunes – walk into a Safaricom care centre and demand that they disable data subscriptions from their system. It works.
Otherwise, the other option is to remove the tunes if you find that you are subscribed.
I made it a habit to dial *100# every morning to check if there were any new subscriptions done. And sure enough on some days I would find new subscriptions even on my feature phone. I did this until they stopped subscribing my lines.
