Chinese ‘intelligent motorbike’ maker Wylex Mobility has launched in Nairobi on December 9, 2025 with the promise of unveiling the ‘most advanced commercial electric motorcycle ever built for this continent.’
The launch took place at the Kilimani charging station operated by Ampersand, the battery swap partner for Wylex.
Wylex brand is produced by Longjia Motor that was founded in 1998. The company produces electric motorcycle models designed for passenger transport and cargo delivery to everyday commuting.
With battery-charging speed being a fundamental aspect in the climatech mobility race, Wylex swappable battery architecture promises a ’45-second’ swap (way smoother than the 2-3 minutes that we have become accustomed to from groundbreakers in this market).
The company during this year’s Canton Fair showcased its smart technology in their emotorbikes with NFC access, 4G connectivity, QR code recognition, and Bluetooth communication.
Wylex cofounder Leo Luo said that the Nairobi launch “will be the global debut of the world’s first commercial e-moto powered by WXP flat-wire motor technology” which will assure longer life, lower maintenance and explosive torque.
Its RoRoship bike currently on sale across the world has a maximum speed of 80km/hr, a battery range of 120km and a maximum load size of 200kg.
Wylex entry brings more competition to early starters including Ampersand, Spiro and Roam. The company will also partner with Bolt to broaden the electric motorbike offer for bodaboda and delivery riders.
